I've got a few things to mention today, and they are all intended to be short. Let's see if I can reign in my fingers.
First off, the haircut is complete, and I am happy with it. It isn't terribly different, but it's a lot more even, which is really all that I was looking for. Without further ado, here are the before and after shots. The biggest change I notice (and I know what I'm looking for) is the mess in the back of my head... it was well on the way to the mullet stage before the cut.

I'm glad that my hair continues to grow very well... it is getting to a point now where I really have to dig to find the incision line, which is great. I've even taken to shaving my sideburns again... the portion of the scar that extends in front of my ear is getting less and less noticeable.
I'm a lucky guy, in a lot of ways.
Which brings me to my next point: this blog is probably going to have fewer and fewer entries going forward. I grant that it might be difficult to imagine my blog becoming less active, but I'll give it a go. :-)
I continue to be blessed with good health. Certainly there may be tougher roads ahead, at which point I will certainly use this forum to let everyone know what is happening and how I'm doing. Until that point, though, I wouldn't expect to hear much from me -- at least, not here.
Which is not to say that I expect to be altogether silent! Anyone that knows me is aware that once I start talking, it is sometimes difficult to put on the brakes. I've been having fun sharing my thoughts with everyone, and my wife suggested that I keep on going... but with a slightly different focus.
As a result, I am planning a new blog. Instead of that silly old Elvis, my focus will be my much more interesting (to me, at least) children. At least with them I will have something to say pretty well all of the time! Once I figure out how I want it to work, I'll let those that are interested know in this space.
Thanks again one and all for your thoughts and prayers through all of this. Please know that they were (and are) truly appreciated.
'Til the next time the spirit moves me...

Snip! Snip!
For those of you groaning on my behalf, please be reassured. The decision certainly shouldn't come as a shock to anyone. It's something that my wife and I have discussed for quite some time... it certainly isn't an idle choice. In my current situation, I can go into this with no fear -- which is a godsend.
It's interesting, actually. So much has happened in the last few months that I really hadn't been thinking about it in a while. Before all of this, I'd poke around a bit, look around to see what options are available... I've always known enough to know that it's better not to make a mistake. After all I've been through in the last few months, though, I've come to appreciate the fact that _who_ does it is pretty much just as important as _what_ is done. That sort of perspective is quite a change from the more cavalier (and probably incorrect) attitude I've taken in the past.
We should live life deliberately, there is no doubt. There is certainly a difference, however, between being deliberate and being reckless.
So, I've solicited a few opinions, asked some questions, found a few other guys I know that have been through the experience. For those closest to my little spot in life, there was certainly a consensus on where NOT to go. Like most things, experience certainly counts.
So, I've made my choice, and I setup an appointment for this coming Wednesday, at 10am. When it's over, I'm certain to feel like a new man.
For those interested, I intend to post before and after photos on Wednesday evening, or Thursday. I'm _hoping_ that the incision isn't particularly noticeable... I'll certainly forewarn everyone if the pictures end up being in the "not for the squeamish" category.
More than anything, I'll be counting on everyone to wish me luck!
'Til the next time the spirit moves me...
(I certainly HOPE everyone knows that I'm talking about my first haircut after surgery. My wife has pointed out that that _might_ not have been clear. Sorry for any confusion!! :-)
